Fossil Mammoth Ivory |

Under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and flora (CITES) mammoth tusks or part thereof are consequently not covered by the regulations of the convention. As the species has been extinct for 20,000 years and is therefore classed as fossil ivory, pre-dating 1972, mammoth ivory is approved material for artistic and International trade by all the relevant world wide Animal Protection Societies and Organisations. |
